"Tele Latina" is an informative and entertainment based, 30-minute program in Spanish and English.

Its objectives are:

• To explore the cultural manifestations of Latin Americans in Western Australia.
• Provide up to date news and events information of interest to the Latin American and non-Latin community in Perth.

Hoy, una de las más importantes formas de representación y expresión cultural es el medio televisivo. Hace décadas que este medio ha sido usado para comunicar creencias, tradiciones, costumbres, perspectivas particulares sobre la sociedad y sobre todo como herramienta didáctica. Con la creación de la televisión comunitaria en los Estados Unidos hace más o menos quince años, este fenómeno se ha popularizado rápidamente.

Es así que después de más de diez años de planificación, junto con el apoyo de algunas de las instituciones educacionales en el estado, Perth ha visto la reciente creación de su primer canal de televisión communitaria - "Canal 31".

Este nuevo canal indudablemente abrirá las puertas para que una gama de organizacionces, tanto culturales como sociales, puedan dar a conocer sus objectivos e intereses al público en general y a futuros miembros.

Es en este contexto, que la Asociación Cultural Latino Americana tiene la oportunidad de seguir con la iniciativa impulsada por el programa radial " Frecuencia Latina", creando medios de comunicación dirigidos a la creciente comunidad de 5.000 Latino Americanos en Australia Occidental.

Por esta razón, es que la siguiente propuesta para el programa televisivo "Tele Latina" se ha desarrollado. Sin duda, con la producción de este nuevo programa, nuestra Asociación no sólo reforzará sus objetivos fundamentales, sino también será la precursora en creatividad e inovación a través de sus medios de comunicación, entre las comunidades étnicas de Ausrtralia Occidental

With the creation of community television in the United States less than a decade ago, this phenomenon has been greatly accelerated and popularized.

With more than 10 years in development, and with the support of some of the major educational institutions in the State, Perth has recently seen the creation of its first community access television station.

This new communication vehicle will undoubtedly opened the doors for individual producers to show their works, and for an array of cultural and social organizations to better communicate their objectives and interests to the wider community as well as potential members.

It is in this context that the Latin American Cultural Association is faced with the unique opportunity of strengthening the trend set by the radio program "Frecuencia Latina" towards the emergence of other communication channels for the 5,000 and growing Latin American community in Western Australia.

It is for these pressing reasons that the following proposal for the television program "Tele Latina" has been developed. Undoubtedly with the production of this program, our Association will not only reinforce our founding objectives but it will also lead the way in innovative communications for many other ethnic communities in Western Australia.
